Here are pictures of the star ball made from six stars. Below is one made using 3/4 inch wide strips and the other 1/2 inch wide strips. Can be waxed to harden, and preserved.

A ball shown in  B, below, was made skipping the cone shapes on one side of each star. This saves about 2 to 4 minutes in making the six stars. And, making the ball is easier. But it would seem the ball in A,  above, would have to be more durable.

A ball shown in  C, below, was made similar to one of the May Baskets. The basket bottom was made, then the last star added to the top. A  different variation.
